Profile


J.N.Vohra is well known technocrat and regarded as a writer and speaker on various aspects of manufacturing industry; technology, management, marketing and general business scenario. His main work focuses on the project formulation and implementation of innovative concepts of management, and entrepreneurship development, especially in MSMEs.

As on March 2015 he possess 45 years of experiences in the textile industry at various levels and in academic fields as lecturer and as guest faculty. At present he is project consultant.  As a consultant, Mr. Vohra prepared more than 200 techno-economic feasibility reports for Modernization, Technology Up-gradation for inducting energy efficient, environmental friendly and lean processes and technologies in Industries.

He completed his M.Tech after doing B.Tech Textiles degree from Technological Institute of Technology and Sciences,  Bhiwani, at that time affiliated to Punjab University, Chandigarh. He attended faculty development programs, management development programs, finance for non-financial executives, leadership and team building programmes, conducted by Administrative Staff College of India, Indian Institute of Technology and All India Management Association, besides Entrepreneurship development programs and various other expert programmes of UNDP.

Experiences
Starting his career as shop floor executive in Modi Industries, Modinagar; Mr. Vohra remained Lecturer in textile technology for six years at Technological Institute of Textiles and Sciences. Thereafter, he served Vardhman Textiles, Ludhiana as R & D Officer; and as Branch Manager (North India) with Petrofils Cooperatives Ltd. (a Government of India Undertaking), at N.Delhi. He served as General Manager and Technical Coordinator at Industry Research and Assictance Center (kniwear Facility), Ludhiana (a UNDP aided Project of Government of Punjab); Senior Vice President, Pearl Global Limited (a large garment exporting company) at their project in Gurgoan, and Business Head at Rana Polycot Ltd. Mohali at their Garment Division.

Mr. Vohra acquired considerable administrative experiences during his assignments in Industry and in academic fields, He administered and managed highly qualified personnel and highly skilled workforce. Mr. Vohra established three industrial projects from conception to implementation with state-of-the-art technologies. He spearheaded studies on behalf of SBI Project Uptech, UNDP, IL&FS and other industrial and business organisations. As academician, he guided many projects on industry, marketing and implementation of modern management concepts in industries. .

  • Founding member of PMA-Panchkula and its Secretary General till July 2014,

Mr. Vohra is a Life Member of All India Management Association (AIMA), N.Delhi, Member, Consultancy Development Centre, N.Delhi, Life Member, Textile Association (India), and held honorary assignments as Secretary General - Chandigarh Management Association; Ex-Editor, CMA update, a journal of Chandigarh Management Association; Technical Advisor, Hosiery and Textile Journal, Ludhiana; and have been Chairman (Education and Publications) –Textile Association (PHC), and PU Vice Chancellor’s nominee for overseeing the interviews for the admission to University Business School for MBA courses and as NIMA Secy Gen. managed PTU projects of distance learning at Kolkata, N.E States, Sikkim, Port Blair, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Publications

Mr. Vohra has published a highly acclaimed book on “Evolution of Modern Textiles”, which has also been translated in Chinese and other languages, and has been included in the Library of Congress U.S., which acquires books very selectively ( LCCN Permalink: http://lccn.loc.gov/99953694), and have contributed 230 articles on technical and managerial subjects, and handled publication of Conference Souvenir on behalf of Textile Association (India) PHC, and have been editor of Management Journals of NIMA and CMA

His research paper 'Process Mechanics of a Stuffer-Box Crimper' was highly acclaimed and referred to by many research scholars and was published in Research Journal, USA and was reviewed in Nature.

 Mr. Vohra presented several technical and management papers in national and International seminars and conferences

 Foreign Visits

Mr. Vohra extensively travelled in India and abroad. He visited foreign countries for studying the functioning of Research Organizations, Product Development Centers, Machine Manufacturer’s Workshops, Marketing Mechanism, Conducting Market Surveys and Market development and for attending International Machine Exhibitions and for attending seminar and conferences and presentations of technical papers.

Countries Visited: USA, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Dubai
